Located in the beautiful city of Oceanside, California, Garrison Elementary School is a visual and performing arts emphasis school supporting over 500 students from preschool to fifth grade.
We recognize that in order to be successful, our children need support from both the home and school.  We know that an effective partnership with parents makes a great difference in supporting your child’s education.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s successes.  We will pledge to do our best to carry out our responsibilities and ask that you help us to guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready to learn.
  • Completes all homework assignments given by teachers.
  • Applies the 8 Keys: Ownership, Failure Leads to Success, Commitment, This is It, Speak with Good Purpose, Integrity, Flexibility and Balance at home, school and in the community.
  • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of what he/she is learning.

On behalf of the staff at Garrison Elementary School, we feel privileged to be a part of this school family.  We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to your participation this school year.

Registration for new and returning students to Garrison begins Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 through August 10th, 2018.  Our office will be open at 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. At the time of enrollments, students new to our school will need to provide

  • evidence of residency
  • birth certificate
  • shot record

If you have neighbors who will be new at Garrison this year, please let them know of our registration policy.

School begins on Monday, August 20th, 2018.  In order to ensure student safety and proper supervision, we encourage you to drop your children off after 8:25 a.m.  Our noon duties will be supervising during that time.  The cafeteria will serve breakfast from 8:25a.m. to 8:55 a.m.  Classes begin at 8:55 a.m. and end at 3:35pm every day except minimum days.  Students in kindergarten dismiss at 2:50pm.  Wednesday is our minimum day and all students dismiss at 1:05.  It is important that your child is present, on time and does not leave early.  The building will be locked until 8:25am and there will not be any adult supervision.

Finally, I would like to emphasize that the Garrison Family is committed to providing a quality and an unforgettable educational experience for our students. We have designated Friday evening, August 17th, 2018 at 5p.m. as the time for a brief presentation in the cafeteria and then you and your child can “Meet your Teacher”.  I hope you take advantage of this time to stop by, admire our sparkling facility, and get to know your child’s teacher. You will be pleased with the high caliber and caring teachers, office personnel and support staff that make up our team.

We cannot accommodate requests for classroom changes once the assignments have been made until the third week of school when all registrations and drops have been finalized. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Once again, we look forward to a spectacular 2018-2019 academic year.  We will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have at (760) 901-7600.
